A revolution in healthcare is underway, evolving from standardized, volume-based care for populations to personalized, outcomes-based care for individuals. One hallmark of this revolution are the data-driven innovations that are accelerating transformation across the pharmaceutical industry. Celgene understood that, in order to remain competitive – and to lead – it needed to leverage greater value and faster insights from its data. So it created iKU (information Knowledge and Utilization) – a bold move to transform how the company embraces and uses data.
Celgene needed a communications partner to sharpen their team’s initial insights, to develop a unique launch plan to create and launch iKU as a brand, to provide launch support for iKU’s big technology platform, Synapse, and to develop a message platform to drive change management across the organization. iKU wasn’t meant to be just a technology platform; the mandate was nothing less than to transform how employees think, act, and lead with data.
David engaged with Noma Bar, artist, illustrator, and animator, whose visionary work can be seen promoting iconic brands such as IBM and Coca-Cola. He was the perfect partner for David to collaborate with to create a training piece for Celgene’s internal teams. The piece garnered a tremendous amount of press, and, more importantly, galvanized employees, making the program enormously successful and a benchmark at Celgene.
We built out a space on Celgene’s New Jersey campus to introduce employees to their new internal research tool, iKU. We oversaw production of the permanent learning facility that featured a VR classroom, interactive theater experience and video tutorial pods. A two-day launch was held for key employees to get a first look at the space. Hundreds of employees from the Celgene campus attended to learn about iKU and meet with the development team. We also produced a pop-up version of the experience at Celgene’s global conference in Austria.

David Cohen's vision and leadership on our iKU animated film were nothing short of inspiring. With the collective strengths of my animation team, the artistry of Noma Bar, and David's guidance, we really brought the client's dream to life. Through confident leadership and support, David consistently elevated our joint project with his impeccable standards. Together we created a highly compelling 2-minute animated film that reimagines complex ideas through the lens of visionary conceptual metaphors. Every chance to collaborate with David is an invitation I look forward to. His projects are a blend of innovation and problem-solving and are highly rewarding.
